56 WHEREAS, John Billingsley of Dallas is receiving a
67 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Texas Tech Alumni Association
78 on November 17, 2023; and
89 WHEREAS, Each year, the Texas Tech Alumni Association honors
910 graduates of Texas Tech University who have made a significant
1011 impact on the lives of others through their professional
1112 achievements and community involvement; and
1213 WHEREAS, John Billingsley earned his bachelor's degree in
1314 business administration from Texas Tech in 1961, and before the age
1415 of 25, he founded an accounting firm that became one of the largest
1516 independently owned CPA firms in the state; in 1976, he purchased
1617 Western State Bank of Midland, and over the six years he served as
1718 its president and board chair, deposits increased from $10 million
1819 to $150 million; he has also been successful in real estate
1920 development; and
2021 WHEREAS, In 2009, Mr. Billingsley founded Tri Global Energy,
2122 LLC, and under his able leadership as chair and CEO, the company
2223 grew to become one of the largest wind developers in the United
2324 States; he sold the business in September 2022; he founded and
2425 currently serves as the chair and CEO of JBB Advanced Technologies,
2526 which focuses on the development of advanced technology solutions
2627 for a more sustainable future; he has been recognized at the state
2728 and national levels for his contributions to the renewable energy
2829 industry; and
2930 WHEREAS, The accomplishments of noteworthy alumni are a
3031 source of great pride to all those associated with Texas Tech, and
3132 John Billingsley is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor;
3233 now, therefore, be it
3334 RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas,
3435 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate John Billingsley on being
3536 named a Distinguished Alumni by the Texas Tech Alumni Association
3637 and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
3738 further
3839 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3940 prepared for Mr. Billingsley as an expression of high regard by the
4041 Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
