8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Each year, the Texas Tech Alumni Association honors |

9 | 10 | | graduates of Texas Tech University who have made a significant |

10 | 11 | | impact on the lives of others through their professional |

12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, John Billingsley earned his bachelor's degree in |

13 | 14 | | business administration from Texas Tech in 1961, and before the age |
---|
14 | 15 | | of 25, he founded an accounting firm that became one of the largest |
---|
15 | 16 | | independently owned CPA firms in the state; in 1976, he purchased |
---|
16 | 17 | | Western State Bank of Midland, and over the six years he served as |
---|
17 | 18 | | its president and board chair, deposits increased from $10 million |
---|
18 | 19 | | to $150 million; he has also been successful in real estate |
---|
19 | 20 | | development; and |
---|
20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In 2009, Mr. Billingsley founded Tri Global Energy, |
---|
21 | 22 | | LLC, and under his able leadership as chair and CEO, the company |
---|
22 | 23 | | grew to become one of the largest wind developers in the United |
---|
23 | 24 | | States; he sold the business in September 2022; he founded and |
---|
24 | 25 | | currently serves as the chair and CEO of JBB Advanced Technologies, |
---|
25 | 26 | | which focuses on the development of advanced technology solutions |
---|
26 | 27 | | for a more sustainable future; he has been recognized at the state |
---|
27 | 28 | | and national levels for his contributions to the renewable energy |
---|
28 | 29 | | industry; and |
---|
29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, The accomplishments of noteworthy alumni are a |
---|
30 | 31 | | source of great pride to all those associated with Texas Tech, and |
---|
31 | 32 | | John Billingsley is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; |
