| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Lou Schanen of Robstown passed away on |

| 6 | 6 | | November 28, 2023, at the age of 69, leaving behind numerous loved |

| 7 | 7 | | ones to cherish her memory; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Robstown, the former Mary Lou |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Perez was born on July 3, 1954, to Helio and Beatriz Tagle Perez, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and she grew up with the companionship of four brothers, Helio, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Raul, David, and Alejandro, and three sisters, Rosa, Beatrice, and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Bertha; she went on to enjoy a rewarding 25-year career as a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | certified nurse's assistant in the home health and nursing home |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | industry; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Schanen became the treasured matriarch of a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | family that included her 5 children, Peter, Amie, Stephanie, Tammy, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and Leo, as well as her 14 grandchildren and her numerous nieces and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | nephews; she was a devoted mother and grandmother, and she also |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | loved caring for her pets; in her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | gardening, cooking, and dancing to country and Tejano music; a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | woman of devout faith, she was a valued member of St. Anthony |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Catholic Church in Robstown; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Although Mary Lou Schanen is deeply missed, those |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | who held her dear will forever remember the warmth and kindness she |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of Mary Lou Schanen and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | her family: to her children, Dr. Peter John Schanen and his wife, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Irma, Amie Schanen, Stephanie Schanen-Skimmyhorn and her husband, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | William, Tammy Schanen, and Leo John Schanen III; to her brothers, |

| 32 | 32 | | Helio Perez Jr. and his wife, Blascita, and Raul Perez and his wife, |
