44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The Arlington Fire Department is celebrating the
66 grand opening of Fire Station 1 on December 8, 2023; and
77 WHEREAS, The two-story, nearly 18,000-square-foot building
88 is replacing the property that had previously served as Fire
99 Station 1 since 1954; Arlington voters approved plans to rebuild
1010 the city's oldest fire station as part of the 2014 bond program, and
1111 the City of Arlington broke ground on the project on March 9, 2022;
1212 and
1313 WHEREAS, Designed to provide a better work and living space
1414 for Arlington firefighters, the new facility features five larger,
1515 drive-through apparatus bays, a full kitchen and dining room, and
1616 various offices; the improved living quarters for the station's
1717 three shift crews, who each spend 24 hours working from the downtown
1818 station, will include 12 private dormitory rooms and separate men's
1919 and women's restrooms with showers; the building's design
2020 incorporates several energy-saving features and technologies, as
2121 well as native landscaping with minimal irrigation requirements;
2222 and
2323 WHEREAS, The members of the Arlington Fire Department have
2424 demonstrated an exceptional commitment to protecting the lives and
2525 property of their fellow citizens, and this spacious new facility
2626 ensures that the department will be even better equipped to serve
2727 the community in the years to come; now, therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2929 Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the Arlington
3030 Fire Department on the grand opening of Fire Station 1 and commend
3131 all those who supported and oversaw the completion of this project
3232 for their contributions; and, be it further
3333 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3434 prepared for the members of the Arlington Fire Department as an
3535 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
