7 | 7 | | immeasurable loss with his passing on November 30, 2023, at the age |

9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Charles Turbeville was born on June 7, 1957, in |

10 | 10 | | Charleston, South Carolina; he earned a bachelor of science degree |
---|
11 | 11 | | from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a master of arts |
---|
12 | 12 | | degree in education from the University of Phoenix; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Turbeville |
---|
14 | 14 | | enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1975, first serving with the 4th |
---|
15 | 15 | | Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort |
---|
16 | 16 | | Bragg, North Carolina, as a cavalry scout; he was later stationed at |
---|
17 | 17 | | Fort Rucker, Alabama, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, U.S. Army Garrison |
---|
18 | 18 | | Humphreys, South Korea, Fort Hood, Texas, and Dolan Barracks, |
---|
19 | 19 | | Germany, and he deployed with Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm |
---|
20 | 20 | | to provide air traffic control support; at the time of his |
---|
21 | 21 | | retirement from federal service in 1995, he was first sergeant of |
---|
22 | 22 | | the Headquarters Troop, 3rd Squadron, 6th Cavalry, 6th Cavalry |
---|
23 | 23 | | Brigade at Fort Hood; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Command Sergeant Major Turbeville went on to join |

25 | 25 | | the Texas State Guard in 2013, and in the course of his exemplary |
---|
26 | 26 | | eight-year tenure, he served as the senior enlisted advisor for the |

27 | 27 | | Texas Medical Brigade and as the SEA for the 1st Battalion, 2nd |

28 | 28 | | Regiment, Army Component; his military awards and decorations |

29 | 29 | | included three Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Commendation |
---|
30 | 30 | | Medals, the Korean Defense Service Medal, three Texas Outstanding |
---|
31 | 31 | | Service Medals, five Texas Medals of Merit, the Texas Faithful |

32 | 32 | | Service Medal, and the Texas State Guard Service Medal; and |

33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Command Sergeant Major |

34 | 34 | | Turbeville enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Brenda, and |

35 | 35 | | their two children, Megan and Adam; and |

36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Charles Turbeville lived a rich and purposeful life |

37 | 37 | | dedicated to his family, his state, and his nation, and he leaves |

38 | 38 | | behind a legacy of public service that his loved ones can remember |

39 | 39 | | with pride; now, therefore, be it |

40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

41 | 41 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
