| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Endurance horseback rider Kim Moquin of Spring |

| 6 | 6 | | achieved great distinction with her impressive showing in the Tevis |

| 7 | 7 | | Cup Ride, which took place on July 29 and 30, 2023; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Held annually since 1955, the Tevis Cup Ride is |

| 9 | 9 | | considered the most challenging endurance horse race in the world; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the competition consists of a rugged 100-mile course from Lake |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Tahoe to Auburn, California; each rider who completes the route |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | within the 24-hour limit, and whose mount is judged "fit to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | continue," receives a silver buckle; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Moquin competed in an international field that |

| 15 | 15 | | included riders from Australia, Canada, England, Israel, Poland, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | South Africa, and the United States; exhibiting a high level of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | horsemanship and perseverance, she placed seventh aboard Okbas |

| 18 | 18 | | Finale, her 16-year-old Arabian gelding; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, With her outstanding performance in the Tevis Cup |

| 20 | 20 | | Ride, Kim Moquin has proudly represented the State of Texas, and it |

| 21 | 21 | | is a pleasure to join in recognizing her for her accomplishments; |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
