5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |

6 | 6 | | by a great and enduring love, Anderson Boyd Lampkin and Dorothy Mae |
---|
7 | 7 | | Lampkin of Fort Worth celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on |
---|
8 | 8 | | August 31, 2023; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, On that special day in 1953, high school sweethearts |
---|
10 | 10 | | A. B. Lampkin and Dorothy Mae Sneed exchanged the vows of matrimony |
---|
11 | 11 | | in Austin; their union was blessed with 4 children, Karl, Cynthia, |
---|
12 | 12 | | Anthony, and Diane, and through the years, their treasured family |
---|
13 | 13 | | has grown to include 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and |
---|
14 | 14 | | 4 great-great-grandchildren; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Lampkin attended Texas Christian University and |
---|
16 | 16 | | Grambling State University, and in the 1960s, he worked as business |
---|
17 | 17 | | manager for the Dallas Express weekly newspaper; the family moved |
---|
18 | 18 | | to Fort Worth when he embarked on a management career in the |
---|
19 | 19 | | insurance industry; following his retirement, he served for 18 |
---|
20 | 20 | | years as a team leader for Fort Worth ISD transportation; he was |
---|
21 | 21 | | also involved in the Dunbar High School community program and |
---|
22 | 22 | | served on its advisory committee; Mrs. Lampkin, a graduate of |
---|
23 | 23 | | Tarrant County Junior College and TCU, taught deaf and blind |
---|
24 | 24 | | students in the Fort Worth Independent School District for 32 |
---|
25 | 25 | | years; together, the Lampkins have volunteered extensively in |
---|
26 | 26 | | behalf of the deaf community, serving as interpreters in more than |
---|
27 | 27 | | 26 states and numerous countries; Mr. Lampkin was instrumental in |
---|
28 | 28 | | the establishment of the Goodrich Center for the Deaf, and he and |
---|
29 | 29 | | Mrs. Lampkin each served as president and as board members; since |
---|
30 | 30 | | 1967, they have been interpreters at Shiloh Missionary Baptist |
---|
31 | 31 | | Church, where he is a deacon and she a deaconess; members of a |
---|
32 | 32 | | number of civic groups, they have been especially active as Life |
---|
33 | 33 | | Members of the NAACP; moreover, they give generously of their |
---|
34 | 34 | | resources to the St. Joseph Libera Indian School, TCU, and other |
---|
35 | 35 | | worthy organizations; and |
---|
36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Sharing strong faith, high ideals, and deep |
---|
37 | 37 | | compassion, A. B. and Dorothy Lampkin have set a sterling example |
---|
38 | 38 | | through both their exceptional contributions and their enduring |
---|
39 | 39 | | commitment to each other; now, therefore, be it |
---|
40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
41 | 41 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate A. B. and |
---|
42 | 42 | | Dorothy Lampkin on their 70th wedding anniversary and extend to |
---|
43 | 43 | | them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it |
