| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The United States of America is a world leader that |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | other nations look to for guidance, leadership, and example; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives believes that all |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | human life is precious, and the targeting of civilians, no matter |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | their faith or ethnicity, is a violation of international |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | humanitarian law; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, War anywhere causes destruction and human |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | casualties; but the unintended consequence of the current |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Israel-Hamas conflict has been the deaths of innocent civilians; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | there have been reports of over 15,000 Palestinians and 1,200 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Israelis, most of whom were newborns, children, women, and the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | frail and elderly, causing a humanitarian crisis of epic |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | proportions; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby supports the preservation |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | of life and encourages the United States Congress and the President |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | of the United States to continue to facilitate negotiations to end |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the conflict between Israel and Palestine so their citizens can |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | live peacefully; and, be it further |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk of the House forward official |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | copies of this resolution to the President of the United States, to |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Representatives of the United States Congress, and to all the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | members of the Texas delegation to congress with the request that |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | this resolution be entered in the Congressional Record as a |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | memorial to the Congress of the United States of America. |
