55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, The United States of America is a world leader that
77 other nations look to for guidance, leadership, and example; and
88 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives believes that all
99 human life is precious, and the targeting of civilians, no matter
1010 their faith or ethnicity, is a violation of international
1111 humanitarian law; and
1212 WHEREAS, War anywhere causes destruction and human
1313 casualties; but the unintended consequence of the current
1414 Israel-Hamas conflict has been the deaths of innocent civilians;
1515 there have been reports of over 15,000 Palestinians and 1,200
1616 Israelis, most of whom were newborns, children, women, and the
1717 frail and elderly, causing a humanitarian crisis of epic
1818 proportions; now, therefore, be it
1919 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2020 Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby supports the preservation
2121 of life and encourages the United States Congress and the President
2222 of the United States to continue to facilitate negotiations to end
2323 the conflict between Israel and Palestine so their citizens can
2424 live peacefully; and, be it further
2525 RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk of the House forward official
2626 copies of this resolution to the President of the United States, to
2727 the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of
2828 Representatives of the United States Congress, and to all the
2929 members of the Texas delegation to congress with the request that
3030 this resolution be entered in the Congressional Record as a
3131 memorial to the Congress of the United States of America.
