| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their |

| 6 | 6 | | memories of Maria Guadelupe Garcia of San Benito, who passed away on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | November 28, 2023, at the age of 70; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Santiago Raul García, Sr. and Marta |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Pérez García was born in Harlingen, Texas on October 14, 1953; she |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | lived a fulfilling and joyous childhood alongside her siblings; |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Santiago, Janie, Nora, Estella, Teri, Rene, and Ricardo. |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, She received a Bachelor of Science in Education |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | degree and was a highly respected professional educator. She |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | impacted the lives of countless students throughout her tenure as a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | professional educator at Villa María High School and San Benito |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | C.I.S.D. She retired from San Benito C.I.S.D. after thirty-six |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | exemplary years of teaching. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Affectionally known as “Ms. ML”, Sheproudly |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | dedicated well over 30 years of her life to San Benito CISD and the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | youth of the local community. She came to work for the local school |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | system in 1981 and retired in 2016, having left for 5 years to serve |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the Catholic Diocese of Brownsville. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Maria Guadelupe Garcia lived a life that was rich in |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | personal and professional achievements, and she will forever be a |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | source of inspiration to those she leaves behind; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | of Maria Guadalupe Garcia and extend heartfelt sympathy to the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | members of her family, other relatives and many friends; and, be it |
|---|
