44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Mark Thomas retired as president and CEO of the
66 Taylor Economic Development Corporation on October 31, 2023, and
77 this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on the
88 contributions of this esteemed Texan; and
99 WHEREAS, Having assumed leadership of TEDC in 2016,
1010 Mr. Thomas helped strengthen the organization's finances, even
1111 while guiding it through the COVID-19 pandemic; during his tenure,
1212 TEDC launched numerous new projects and cultivated billions of
1313 dollars of capital investments in Taylor, attracting companies such
1414 as Samsung, Valero, Noren Products, Summit Cabinets, and Hart
1515 Components; his efforts have also enabled the organization to
1616 target investments in roads and water and wastewater
1717 infrastructure; and
1818 WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas brought to his role a wealth of knowledge
1919 and expertise from his more than 30 years of experience in economic
2020 development leadership in Midland, Waco, and Georgetown; and
2121 WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and
2222 commitment to excellence, Mark Thomas has greatly benefited his
2323 fellow Texans, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his
2424 exceptional record of achievement as he embarks on the next
2525 exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2727 Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Mark Thomas on
2828 his retirement as president and CEO of the Taylor Economic
2929 Development Corporation and extend to him sincere best wishes for
3030 the future; and, be it further
3131 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3232 prepared for Mr. Thomas as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3333 House of Representatives.
