| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The members of The Texas Trio have contributed |

| 6 | 6 | | significantly to the country music scene and to the rich cultural |

| 7 | 7 | | landscape of the Lone Star State; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, With more than six decades of combined experience in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the music industry, Kyle Park, Jason Roberts, and John Michael |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Whitby formed the traditional country and Western swing group, The |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Texas Trio, as a side project to their individual careers; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Born in Austin and raised in Leander, Kyle Park |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | began playing the acoustic guitar, writing his own songs, and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | singing for live audiences at the age of 15; he has since released |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | six solo albums and recorded seven No. 1 singles on the Texas |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Regional Radio Report; in addition to finding success as a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | producer, he has toured with his own band for 15 years, routinely |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | performing at more than 100 shows per year at venues across the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | country and in Europe; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A native of Lampasas, Jason Roberts is a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who launched his |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | career with the western swing supergroup Asleep at the Wheel; he |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | joined the band shortly after graduating from high school and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | played with the group for 16 years; a two-time Grammy award winner, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | he has released two original full-length albums and has toured |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | frequently with his own band; over the years, he has shared the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | stage with many legendary artists, and he is currently the leader of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Bob Wills' Texas Playboys; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Keyboardist John Michael Whitby was born in Austin |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and grew up in Waco and New Braunfels; he began learning classical |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | piano when he was just three years old, and he went on to join Asleep |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | at the Wheel at the age of 21; he has also played with the Randy |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Rogers Band, and for the past 14 years, he has been the keyboardist |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | with George Strait and the world-renowned Ace in the Hole Band; in |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | addition, he has served as Mr. Park's business manager for more |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | than 15 years; and |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Through their musical talents and dedication to |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | their craft, the members of The Texas Trio have earned the |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | admiration and appreciation of countless fans across Texas and |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | beyond, and they may indeed take pride in their many |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 43 | 43 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby honor the members of The |

| 44 | 44 | | Texas Trio for their contributions to Texas music and culture and |

| 45 | 45 | | extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
