| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ben Lai has ably served his fellow Texans as an |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | intern in the office of State Representative Chris Turner during |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the fall of 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Mr. Lai has provided vital |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks, such as |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | creating content and graphics for social media, drafting |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | correspondence with constituents and stakeholders, conducting |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | background research, analyzing legislation, and assisting with |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | preparations for floor debates and committee hearings; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Lai is a junior at The University of Texas at |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Austin, where he is studying government and Spanish, and he has |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | further distinguished himself as a Dell Scholar and a recipient of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the Texas Excellence scholarship; moreover, he is an undergraduate |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | research apprentice and has previously served as a messenger for |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the Texas Senate, as a policy and research intern for the Texas |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Workforce Commission, and as a technical assistant for the Moody |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | College of Communication; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed his |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | duties as a legislative intern with skill and dedication, and he is |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | indeed deserving of special recognition for his fine work; now, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Ben Lai for his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | service as a legislative intern in the office of State |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Representative Chris Turner and extend to him sincere best wishes |

| 30 | 30 | | for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
