| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Larry Nikiel is retiring from St. Bernadette |

| 6 | 6 | | Catholic Church in 2023, and this occasion provides a fitting |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | opportunity to reflect on his decades of exemplary service to the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | congregation; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Nikiel first joined St. Bernadette Catholic |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Church in 1978 as a founding member, and over the years, he has |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | volunteered as an usher and a lector; in June 2000, he became the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | parish's maintenance supervisor, and he has made vital |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | contributions in this role, including overseeing the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | groundskeeping, preparing facilities for severe weather, and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | managing such projects as the installation of the baptismal |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | fountain, construction of the Parish Life Center, and renovation of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the preschool; in addition, he has reliably been on call to address |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | emergencies after hours and on his days off; he has also given of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | his time and talents as a member of the church's Knights of Columbus |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Council; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Nikiel has enjoyed the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | love and support of his wife, Betty, as well as that of their four |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | daughters, Amy, Kristin, Beth, and Ann; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Larry Nikiel's dedication, professionalism, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the congregants of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | St. Bernadette Catholic Church, and he may indeed reflect with |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | pride on his outstanding record of achievement as he embarks on the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Larry Nikiel |

| 31 | 31 | | on his retirement from St. Bernadette Catholic Church and extend to |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
