5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |

6 | 6 | | of Martin Needham Lee of Bronte, who passed away on October 10, |
---|
7 | 7 | | 2023, at the age of 85; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Hurlin Dewitt Lee and Eula Verne Nixon, |
---|
9 | 9 | | Martin Lee was born in Ballinger on June 22, 1938, and he grew up on |
---|
10 | 10 | | his family's ranch in Coke and Runnels Counties with the |
---|
11 | 11 | | companionship of his brother, Tom; he graduated from Bronte High |
---|
12 | 12 | | School in 1956; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A successful entrepreneur, Mr. Lee was involved in |
---|
14 | 14 | | real estate sales and investments, oil and gas operations, general |
---|
15 | 15 | | building construction, and land development over the course of his |
---|
16 | 16 | | multifaceted career; in 1962, he established a ranch real estate |
---|
17 | 17 | | firm, which is now known as Lee, Lee & Puckitt Associates, Inc.; his |
---|
18 | 18 | | integrity and attention to detail were integral to the business's |
---|
19 | 19 | | growth, and he became a prominent figure overseeing large ranch |
---|
20 | 20 | | transactions; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Lee was deeply engaged in the Bronte community, |
---|
22 | 22 | | serving on the city council for 8 years and as mayor for 18 years; |
---|
23 | 23 | | moreover, he gave generously of his time and talents to numerous |
---|
24 | 24 | | organizations, boards, and committees, including the Masons, the |
---|
25 | 25 | | Bronte Lions Club, the Bronte Chamber of Commerce, and the Upper |
---|
26 | 26 | | Colorado River Authority Board of Directors; he also served on the |
---|
27 | 27 | | board of the Howard College Foundation for 26 years and received an |
---|
28 | 28 | | honorary degree for his invaluable work; a man of strong faith, he |
---|
29 | 29 | | was a dedicated congregant of Bronte Methodist Church; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Lee treasured his family; he |
---|
31 | 31 | | shared a fulfilling marriage of 66 years with his high school |
---|
32 | 32 | | sweetheart, Patricia, and he took great pride in his children, |
---|
33 | 33 | | Lisa, Sheila, and Stephen; with the passing years, he had the |
---|
34 | 34 | | pleasure of seeing his family grow to include nine grandchildren, |
---|
35 | 35 | | Alexander, Sterling, Tiffany, Chase, Kelsey, Jarrett, Jordan, |
---|
36 | 36 | | Jacy, and Katie, six great-grandchildren, Cambrey, Caitlin, |
---|
37 | 37 | | Cameron, Colin, Archer, and Jenna, and two |
---|
38 | 38 | | great-great-grandchildren, Bauer and Brecklyn; in his leisure |
---|
39 | 39 | | time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family |
---|
40 | 40 | | and friends at his vacation home in Ruidoso, New Mexico; and |
---|
41 | 41 | | WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his loved ones and his |
---|
42 | 42 | | community, Martin Lee earned the lasting respect and admiration of |
---|
43 | 43 | | all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |
---|
44 | 44 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
45 | 45 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
---|
46 | 46 | | of Martin Needham Lee and extend sincere condolences to his family |
---|
47 | 47 | | and friends; and, be it further |
---|
48 | 48 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
---|
49 | 49 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
---|
50 | 50 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Martin Lee. |
