R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Karla Garcia was honored as the Edinburg Chamber of
Commerce's Ambassador of the Year at its annual Installation &
Awards Banquet on November 8, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the chamber recognizes local civic
leaders for their outstanding efforts in behalf of the Edinburg
community; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Garcia, who currently serves as the director of
community outreach for DHR Health, began volunteering as an
ambassador for the chamber in 2022; she has since distinguished
herself greatly through her hard work and dedication to the
chamber's mission, and her contributions to the Membership and
Events Committee and its fundraising projects have yielded an
impressive $20,000 in support during the 2022-2023 fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, Outside of her work with the chamber, Ms. Garcia is
involved in Edinburg Crime Stoppers, the Kiwanis Club of Edinburg,
and the Leadership Edinburg Steering Committee; she is a proud
graduate of Leadership Edinburg Class XXXIV, which successfully
raised funds for the revitalization of the local American Legion
Post; and
WHEREAS, Karla Garcia has demonstrated a lasting commitment
to making Edinburg a better place for all, and in so doing, she has
earned the deep respect and appreciation of her fellow residents;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Karla Garcia
on being named the 2023 Ambassador of the Year by the Edinburg
Chamber of Commerce and extend to her sincere best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
