| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Karla Garcia was honored as the Edinburg Chamber of |

| 6 | 6 | | Commerce's Ambassador of the Year at its annual Installation & |

| 7 | 7 | | Awards Banquet on November 8, 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Each year, the chamber recognizes local civic |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | leaders for their outstanding efforts in behalf of the Edinburg |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | community; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Garcia, who currently serves as the director of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | community outreach for DHR Health, began volunteering as an |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | ambassador for the chamber in 2022; she has since distinguished |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | herself greatly through her hard work and dedication to the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | chamber's mission, and her contributions to the Membership and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Events Committee and its fundraising projects have yielded an |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | impressive $20,000 in support during the 2022-2023 fiscal year; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Outside of her work with the chamber, Ms. Garcia is |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | involved in Edinburg Crime Stoppers, the Kiwanis Club of Edinburg, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and the Leadership Edinburg Steering Committee; she is a proud |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | graduate of Leadership Edinburg Class XXXIV, which successfully |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | raised funds for the revitalization of the local American Legion |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Post; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Karla Garcia has demonstrated a lasting commitment |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | to making Edinburg a better place for all, and in so doing, she has |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | earned the deep respect and appreciation of her fellow residents; |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Karla Garcia |

| 30 | 30 | | on being named the 2023 Ambassador of the Year by the Edinburg |

| 31 | 31 | | Chamber of Commerce and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
