44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The girls' cross country team of McAllen High School
66 ended a memorable season by participating in the 2023 University
77 Interscholastic League Cross Country State Championships at Old
88 Settlers Park in Round Rock on November 3; and
99 WHEREAS, Joining other top high school competitors from
1010 across Texas at the state meet, the McAllen High team included seven
1111 runners: Dana Rojas Vazquez, Kenzi Ramirez, Daira Rojas Vazquez,
1212 Aillen Rivera, Samara Gully, Ava Barreda, and Rebecca Morgan; and
1313 WHEREAS, The first McAllen High School team to reach the
1414 state competition in 26 years, the 2023 Bulldogs posted a combined
1515 time of 1 hour, 39 minutes, 3.9 seconds, while negotiating the
1616 challenging course, and they claimed ninth place in the Class 5A
1717 team standings; and
1818 WHEREAS, By earning the right to compete in the state's
1919 premier showcase for high school cross country runners, these
2020 dedicated athletes have ably represented their school and
2121 community, and they may indeed reflect with pride on their
2222 accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2424 Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the members of
2525 the McAllen High School girls' cross country team on their
2626 participation in the 2023 UIL Cross Country State Championships and
2727 extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
2828 further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3131 House of Representatives.
