| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The girls' cross country team of McAllen High School |

| 7 | 7 | | Interscholastic League Cross Country State Championships at Old |

| 8 | 8 | | Settlers Park in Round Rock on November 3; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Joining other top high school competitors from |

| 10 | 10 | | across Texas at the state meet, the McAllen High team included seven |

| 11 | 11 | | runners: Dana Rojas Vazquez, Kenzi Ramirez, Daira Rojas Vazquez, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Aillen Rivera, Samara Gully, Ava Barreda, and Rebecca Morgan; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The first McAllen High School team to reach the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | state competition in 26 years, the 2023 Bulldogs posted a combined |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | time of 1 hour, 39 minutes, 3.9 seconds, while negotiating the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | challenging course, and they claimed ninth place in the Class 5A |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | team standings; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, By earning the right to compete in the state's |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | premier showcase for high school cross country runners, these |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | dedicated athletes have ably represented their school and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | community, and they may indeed reflect with pride on their |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the members of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the McAllen High School girls' cross country team on their |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | participation in the 2023 UIL Cross Country State Championships and |

| 27 | 27 | | extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
