| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Timberwolf Marching Band of Cedar Park High |

| 6 | 6 | | School continued its proud tradition of excellence by claiming the |

| 7 | 7 | | 5A state championship at the 2023 University Interscholastic League |

| 8 | 8 | | State Open Class Marching Band Contest, held November 7 at the |

| 9 | 9 | | Alamodome in San Antonio; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Joining the other top competitors from across the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Lone Star State, the Cedar Park High band members impressed the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | panel of judges, achieving a total score of 14 to take home the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | coveted Class 5A championship; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The victory marked the sixth state title for the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Timberwolves since 2011; moreover, the Cedar Park ensemble has also |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | excelled in numerous other competitions through the years, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | during the fall of 2023, it turned in strong performances at the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Bands of America Austin Regional and San Antonio Super Regional |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | contests; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The Timberwolf Marching Band includes more than 220 |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | wind players, percussionists, and color guard members; these |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | talented and determined performers benefit from the leadership of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Cedar Park High School's director of bands, Christopher Yee, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | associate directors Kendall Santos and Jeremiah Armstrong, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | director of percussion, Roland Chavez; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Cedar Park High School Timberwolf |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Marching Band have distinguished themselves through their skill and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | dedication, and their recognition as one of the best marching bands |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | in Texas is a source of tremendous pride to their school and their |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the Cedar Park |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | High School Timberwolf Marching Band on winning the 5A state |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | championship at the 2023 UIL State Open Class Marching Band Contest |

| 35 | 35 | | and that all those involved with the ensemble be extended sincere |
