44 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
55 AN ACT
66 relating to the regulation of certain continuing education
77 programs.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 6002.159, Insurance Code, is amended by
1010 amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (c) to read as
1111 follows:
1212 (b) The commissioner may not adopt a rule that excludes or
1313 devalues a signed or otherwise substantially verifiable
1414 certificate of training that is:
1515 (1) applicable to the areas of work authorized by the
1616 relevant license; and
1717 (2) issued by a training program or school that is:
1818 (A) nationally recognized; or
1919 (B) authorized under the Occupations Code or
2020 Education Code.
2121 (c) The commissioner may not adopt a rule that requires more
2222 than eight hours of [Participation in the] continuing education for
2323 any license renewal period [programs is voluntary].
2424 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2525 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2626 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2727 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2828 Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the
2929 legislative session.
