5	5		WHEREAS, The annual Texas Department of Public Safety
6	6		Foundation BBQ Cook-Off is taking place in Midland on March 22 and
7	7		23, 2024; and
8	8		WHEREAS, This much-anticipated event is sanctioned by the
9	9		International Barbeque Cookers Association as one of the
10	10		organization's annual state championship cook-offs; the contest
11	11		draws accomplished pitmasters from across Texas who strive to
12	12		create the tastiest dishes in several different categories;
13	13		attendees enjoy a fun, family-oriented atmosphere along with great
14	14		food and spirited competition; and
15	15		WHEREAS, Proceeds from the cook-off will benefit the Texas
16	16		Department of Public Safety Foundation, a nonprofit organization
17	17		that supports DPS officers and employees through educational
18	18		advancement, service recognition, community connections, financial
19	19		assistance, and professional development; and
20	20		WHEREAS, The Texas Department of Public Safety Foundation BBQ
21	21		Cook-Off is a fitting celebration of the smoked delicacies that are
22	22		such an integral part of Texas culture, and it promises to be a
23	23		source of fond memories for all who attend; now, therefore, be it
24	24		RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas,
25	25		4th Called Session, hereby commemorate the 2024 Texas Department of
26	26		Public Safety Foundation BBQ Cook-Off and extend to the organizers
27	27		and participants sincere best wishes for a fun and successful
28	28		event; and, be it further
29	29		RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
30	30		prepared for the foundation as an expression of high regard by the
31	31		Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
