| 8 | 8 | | evaluation and technology category at the 2023 National FFA |

|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Advancing to the national meet after excelling at |

| 11 | 11 | | the local and state levels, the Burnet High contingent claimed top |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | honors in the meats evaluation and technology career development |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | event; the competition included a general knowledge exam, a beef |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | carcass evaluation, the identification of wholesale and retail cuts |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of beef, lamb, and pork, the quality and yield grading of beef |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | carcasses, a team meat merchandising event, and the solving of a |

| 17 | 17 | | meat formulation problem; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Burnet was led by Carter Bostic, who won national |

| 19 | 19 | | champion and first-place individual honors; Jackson Drozd was named |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | reserve national champion and second-place winner in the individual |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | category, and Enrique Montalvo and Cayden Beatty respectively |

| 22 | 22 | | collected fourth-place and sixth-place individual showings for the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | team; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In bringing home a national title, these outstanding |

| 25 | 25 | | young Texans have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication in |

| 26 | 26 | | the pursuit of their goals, and they are a source of great pride to |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | their school and their community; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 4th |

| 29 | 29 | | Called Session, hereby congratulate the Burnet High School FFA team |

| 30 | 30 | | on winning the national championship in the meats evaluation and |

| 31 | 31 | | technology competition at the 2023 National FFA Convention and Expo |

| 32 | 32 | | and extend to all those associated with the group sincere best |
|---|
