55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, The Burnet High School FFA team achieved great
77 distinction by winning the national championship in the meats
88 evaluation and technology category at the 2023 National FFA
99 Convention and Expo; and
1010 WHEREAS, Advancing to the national meet after excelling at
1111 the local and state levels, the Burnet High contingent claimed top
1212 honors in the meats evaluation and technology career development
1313 event; the competition included a general knowledge exam, a beef
1414 carcass evaluation, the identification of wholesale and retail cuts
1515 of beef, lamb, and pork, the quality and yield grading of beef
1616 carcasses, a team meat merchandising event, and the solving of a
1717 meat formulation problem; and
1818 WHEREAS, Burnet was led by Carter Bostic, who won national
1919 champion and first-place individual honors; Jackson Drozd was named
2020 reserve national champion and second-place winner in the individual
2121 category, and Enrique Montalvo and Cayden Beatty respectively
2222 collected fourth-place and sixth-place individual showings for the
2323 team; and
2424 WHEREAS, In bringing home a national title, these outstanding
2525 young Texans have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication in
2626 the pursuit of their goals, and they are a source of great pride to
2727 their school and their community; now, therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 4th
2929 Called Session, hereby congratulate the Burnet High School FFA team
3030 on winning the national championship in the meats evaluation and
3131 technology competition at the 2023 National FFA Convention and Expo
3232 and extend to all those associated with the group sincere best
3333 wishes for continued success; and, be it further
3434 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3535 prepared for the Burnet FFA team as an expression of high regard by
3636 the Texas Senate.
