| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the participants, organizers, and attendees of the |

| 4 | 4 | | 15th annual Larry Turner Classic Wheelchair Basketball |

| 5 | 5 | | Tournament, which was held on October 7 and 8, 2023, at the Texas |

| 6 | 6 | | State University Jowers Center in San Marcos; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The Larry Turner Classic is a popular community |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | event sanctioned by the National Wheelchair Basketball |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Association that serves the adaptive sports community in the Lone |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Star State; tournament participants include many local community |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | members and veterans, and each year, the participating athletes |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | visit Texas State University to compete in Championship, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Division III, and Juniors Divisions; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Organized with the support of Texas State |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | University faculty from such disciplines as recreational |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | therapy, exercise sports science, athletic training, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | physical education in partnership with the Research for Adaptive |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and Inclusive Sport and Exercise Initiative, the classic is |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | coordinated with the assistance of student volunteers from the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | university's graduate and undergraduate programs and included 20 |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | teams and 250 athletes who took part in the event; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Tournament participants exhibited tremendous |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | discipline and exceptional teamwork throughout the competition, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and these extraordinary athletes can be justifiably proud of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | their impressive skills and their fine sportsmanship; it is |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | indeed fitting that these treasured Texans receive special |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | recognition on their perseverance and dedication and on their |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | outstanding performance at the classic; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend the stellar |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | athletes, coaches, and supporters of the Larry Turner Classic |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Wheelchair Basketball Tournament and extend to all |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | participants best wishes for success in all of their |
|---|
