| 3 | 3 | | recognize Golden Soror Joyce Ratcliff, a 50-year member of Alpha |

| 4 | 4 | | Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, who is being honored by |

| 5 | 5 | | Omicron Mu Omega Chapter at its Founders' Day Luncheon on |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | January 28, 2024; and |

| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Omicron Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Sorority was conceived in October of 1983 by five sorors who met to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | discuss the formation of a second graduate chapter in the Dallas |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | area; after much dedicated effort, the chapter was established on |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | June 23, 1984; it has an illustrious history of service and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | community work, and it annually recognizes long-standing sorority |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | members at its Founders' Day Luncheon; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Ratcliff was inducted into the Gamma Psi |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at Texas Southern |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | University in 1974, and she later joined the Omicron Mu Omega |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Chapter of the sorority; over the years, she has remained a loyal |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | member of the sorority and has served as a mentor and role model |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | to countless sisters; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Joyce is truly deserving of recognition for her |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | longtime membership in and service to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and for the important role she has played in helping to encourage |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | leadership, scholarship, personal development, and community |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | service through the programs of Omicron Mu Omega Chapter; now, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Golden Soror |

| 28 | 28 | | Joyce Ratcliff on her dedicated service and her many achievements |

| 29 | 29 | | and extend to her congratulations on being honored by Omicron Mu |

| 30 | 30 | | Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at its 2024 Founders' |
