62 WHEREAS, The Texas Rangers closed out a historic season by
73 winning the Major League Baseball World Series on November 1, 2023,
84 collecting the franchise's first championship; and
9- WHEREAS, After a remarkable regular season during which they
10- accomplished a historic turnaround by winning 90 games and earning
11- a wild-card berth in the playoffs, the Rangers advanced through
12- their first two postseason series against the American League's two
13- winningest teams, Tampa Bay and Baltimore, without losing a single
14- contest; following a two-game triumph over the Rays, the Rangers
15- recorded a dominating 3-0 sweep of the Orioles to advance to the
16- American League Championship Series against the defending World
17- Series champion Houston Astros; the all-Texas battle went the
18- distance in seven thrilling games, and the Rangers clinched their
19- third trip to the World Series in dramatic fashion, besting the
20- Astros 11-4 in Game 7 behind a four-hit, two-home run performance by
21- Adolis Garcia; and

40- out three seasons; with the win in Game 7 of the ALCS, Mr. Bochy
41- moved to 6-0 in winner-take-all games and has won 14 elimination
42- games; and
43- WHEREAS, Under the leadership of majority owner Ray Davis,
44- president and chief operating officer Neil Leibman, and vice
45- president and general manager Chris Young, the Texas Rangers have
46- won their first World Series in 62 seasons, and this achievement
47- will be celebrated by the team's countless fans for many years to
48- come; now, therefore, be it
49- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature,
50- 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the Texas Rangers on
51- winning the 2023 Major League Baseball World Series and extend to
52- the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
53- continued success; and, be it further
