5	5	WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their
6	6	memories of Barbara Jean York Hancock, who passed away on
7	7	October 20, 2023, at the age of 88; and
8	8	WHEREAS, The only child of Eugene and Elfin "Dolly" York,
9	9	the former Barbara York was born on July 15, 1935, and she grew up
10	10	in Henderson, where she met the love of her life and future
11	11	husband, Dean Hancock; they both attended Kilgore Junior
12	12	College, and she became a member of the Rangerettes; and
13	13	WHEREAS, The couple married in 1955 and went on to settle in
14	14	Fort Worth; in addition to supporting the family business,
15	15	Mrs. Hancock was a devoted mother to her three children, Cary,
16	16	Kelly, and Pattilinn, and with the passing years, her cherished
17	17	family grew to include eight grandchildren and nine
18	18	great-grandchildren; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Sustained by a deep faith, Mrs. Hancock was an
20	20	active member of her church and served in the youth ministry and
21	21	adult choir; moreover, she and her husband were heavily involved
22	22	with Charles Stanley's In Touch Ministries and often participated in
23	23	the cruises, ran the bookstore, and served as advisors to the
24	24	Stanley family; engaged in her community, Mrs. Hancock also gave
25	25	generously of her time and talents to a number of worthy causes and
26	26	cultivated many lasting friendships through her work with the
27	27	Woman's Club of Fort Worth; in her leisure time, she enjoyed travel
28	28	and such adventurous pursuits as hiking, snow skiing, and motorcycle
29	29	riding in New Mexico; in addition, she was an excellent decorator
30	30	and a gracious hostess, and she and her husband held many gatherings
31	31	in their home and at their Decatur ranch; and
32	32	WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Barbara Hancock
33	33	will remember the way she touched their lives with her warmth, her
34	34	kindness, and her cheerful personality, and she will forever hold a
35	35	treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
36	36	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
37	37	Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
38	38	of Barbara Jean York Hancock and extend sincere condolences to
39	39	the members of her family: to her husband, Lester Dean Hancock;
40	40	to her children, Cary Hancock, Kelly Hancock and his wife, Robin,
41	41	and Patti Priest and her husband, Cory; to her grandchildren,
42	42	Layne Hancock, Chloe Hancock Cox, Skylar Hancock Frederick,
43	43	Laramie Priest, C. J. Hancock Thornton, Harrison Hancock, Dakota
44	44	Priest, and Steelie Priest Allison; to her great-grandchildren;
45	45	and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
46	46	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
47	47	prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
48	48	this day, it do so in memory of Barbara Hancock.
