5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with |

6 | 6 | | the passing of Doris Jane Sheridan on September 20, 2023, at the |
---|
7 | 7 | | age of 81; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The former Doris Burchfield was born near |
---|
9 | 9 | | Leonard on September 8, 1942, to Byrd and Melvia Burchfield, |
---|
10 | 10 | | and she grew up with five siblings, Peggy, Bobby, Jimmy, J. W., |
---|
11 | 11 | | and Dorothy; her family lived in Pilot Grove and then relocated |
---|
12 | 12 | | to Whitewright, where she was salutatorian of her high school |
---|
13 | 13 | | class; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, She and her future husband, Lewis Sheridan, met in |
---|
15 | 15 | | high school; the couple exchanged wedding vows on August 26, |
---|
16 | 16 | | 1960, and they went on to share a rewarding marriage that spanned |
---|
17 | 17 | | more than six decades; deeply devoted to her family, Mrs. |
---|
18 | 18 | | Sheridan was a loving wife and a caring mother to her three |
---|
19 | 19 | | children, Gerald, Carla, and Bo; later in life, she was blessed |
---|
20 | 20 | | with eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a woman |
---|
21 | 21 | | of faith, she sang in her church choir and taught Sunday school |
---|
22 | 22 | | for many years; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, After moving to Paris, Texas, Mrs. Sheridan was |
---|
24 | 24 | | employed by Ideal Bakery and then by Uarco; she later contributed |
---|
25 | 25 | | her accounting expertise to her work with the Texas Department of |
---|
26 | 26 | | Transportation, where she ultimately retired in 2005; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Although Doris Sheridan is greatly missed, |
---|
28 | 28 | | memories of her engaging smile, her deep compassion, and her |
---|
29 | 29 | | unwavering love for others will remain to comfort and inspire |
---|
30 | 30 | | those she leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
---|
31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
---|
32 | 32 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life |
---|
33 | 33 | | of Doris Jane Sheridan and extend sincere sympathy to the members |
---|
34 | 34 | | of her family: to her husband, Lewis Sheridan; to her children, |

35 | 35 | | Gerald Sheridan and his wife, Tina, Carla Spann and her husband, |
