55 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with
66 the passing of Doris Jane Sheridan on September 20, 2023, at the
77 age of 81; and
88 WHEREAS, The former Doris Burchfield was born near
99 Leonard on September 8, 1942, to Byrd and Melvia Burchfield,
1010 and she grew up with five siblings, Peggy, Bobby, Jimmy, J. W.,
1111 and Dorothy; her family lived in Pilot Grove and then relocated
1212 to Whitewright, where she was salutatorian of her high school
1313 class; and
1414 WHEREAS, She and her future husband, Lewis Sheridan, met in
1515 high school; the couple exchanged wedding vows on August 26,
1616 1960, and they went on to share a rewarding marriage that spanned
1717 more than six decades; deeply devoted to her family, Mrs.
1818 Sheridan was a loving wife and a caring mother to her three
1919 children, Gerald, Carla, and Bo; later in life, she was blessed
2020 with eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a woman
2121 of faith, she sang in her church choir and taught Sunday school
2222 for many years; and
2323 WHEREAS, After moving to Paris, Texas, Mrs. Sheridan was
2424 employed by Ideal Bakery and then by Uarco; she later contributed
2525 her accounting expertise to her work with the Texas Department of
2626 Transportation, where she ultimately retired in 2005; and
2727 WHEREAS, Although Doris Sheridan is greatly missed,
2828 memories of her engaging smile, her deep compassion, and her
2929 unwavering love for others will remain to comfort and inspire
3030 those she leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
3131 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
3232 Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life
3333 of Doris Jane Sheridan and extend sincere sympathy to the members
3434 of her family: to her husband, Lewis Sheridan; to her children,
3535 Gerald Sheridan and his wife, Tina, Carla Spann and her husband,
3636 Phil, and "Bo" Sheridan and his wife, Tralisa; to her
3737 grandchildren, Keith Sheridan and his wife, Stefanie, Kyle
3838 Sheridan and his wife, Jenna, Kacie Bone and her husband, J. D.,
3939 Brooke, Leslie, and Jansen Spann, Leigha Youngblood and her
4040 husband, Kelby, and Landry Sheridan; to her great-grandchildren;
4141 to her siblings, J. W. Burchfield and his wife, Joyce, and
4242 Dorothy Huckaby and her husband, Jim; and to her other relatives
4343 and friends; and, be it further
4444 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4545 prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
4646 this day, it do so in memory of Doris Sheridan.
