2	6		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	7		recognize Children and Family Institute on the occasion of the
4	8		organization's 30th anniversary; and
5		-	WHEREAS, Children and Family Institute was established
6		-	in 1993 by Rose Nesbitt Jones with the mission to find
7		-	~~permanent,~~ loving homes for hard-to-place children from
8		-	~~diverse~~ backgrounds, including African American children,
9		-	~~school-age~~ children, and sibling groups; and
	9	+	WHEREAS, Children and Family Institute was established in
	10	+	1993 by Rose Nesbitt Jones with the mission to find permanent,
	11	+	loving homes for hard-to-place children from diverse
	12	+	backgrounds, including African American children, school-age
	13	+	children, and sibling groups; and
10	14		WHEREAS, Rose Nesbitt Jones began fostering children as a
11	15		volunteer house parent for at-risk teenage girls while
12	16		completing her university studies in social work; guided by her
13	17		passion for adoption, she went on to serve for 40 years as a
14	18		social worker with a number of agencies, including the Texas
15	19		Department of Family and Protective Services, where she served
16	20		for seven years; and
17		-	WHEREAS, Determined to do more in service of children, ~~Rose~~
18		-	set her heart on pursuing this calling, and she established ~~the~~
19		-	Children and Family Institute to provide hope and a future to

24	28		years; in 2008, the institute began to offer a range of
25		-	comprehensive support services at no cost to parents,
26		-	including such services as classes, mentoring, career
27		-	planning, adoption education, financial education, and life
28		-	skills training; and

33	36		WHEREAS, Throughout the past three decades, Children and
34	37		Family Institute has served as a beacon of hope to foster
35	38		children and youth and has empowered families to take courage in
36	39		cultivating the beautiful spirit of adoption; this outstanding
37	40		organization has forged a lasting legacy of compassion,
38	41		resilience, and positive social change, and it is a shining
39	42		example to future generations who wish to build a brighter
40	43		tomorrow; now, therefore, be it
41	44		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
42	45		Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend the staff and
43	46		volunteers of Children and Family Institute on 30 years of
44	47		dedicated service to foster children in the Lone Star State and
45	48		extend to all best wishes for continued success in the future;
46	49		and, be it further
47	50		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
48	51		the institute as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
