5+ SENATE RESOLUTION
26 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
37 recognize Children and Family Institute on the occasion of the
48 organization's 30th anniversary; and
5- WHEREAS, Children and Family Institute was established
6- in 1993 by Rose Nesbitt Jones with the mission to find
7- permanent, loving homes for hard-to-place children from
8- diverse backgrounds, including African American children,
9- school-age children, and sibling groups; and
9+ WHEREAS, Children and Family Institute was established in

1014 WHEREAS, Rose Nesbitt Jones began fostering children as a
1115 volunteer house parent for at-risk teenage girls while
1216 completing her university studies in social work; guided by her
1317 passion for adoption, she went on to serve for 40 years as a
1418 social worker with a number of agencies, including the Texas
1519 Department of Family and Protective Services, where she served
1620 for seven years; and
17- WHEREAS, Determined to do more in service of children, Rose
18- set her heart on pursuing this calling, and she established the
19- Children and Family Institute to provide hope and a future to
21+ WHEREAS, Determined to do more in service of children,

2024 youth and children in the area; and
2125 WHEREAS, Since its inception, the organization has
2226 nurtured an ethos of compassion in the community and has been
2327 instrumental in strengthening and restoring families over the
2428 years; in 2008, the institute began to offer a range of
25- comprehensive support services at no cost to parents,
26- including such services as classes, mentoring, career
27- planning, adoption education, financial education, and life
28- skills training; and

2932 WHEREAS, Four years later, the organization opened an
3033 additional branch office in the Fort Worth area, and in 2015, it

3336 WHEREAS, Throughout the past three decades, Children and
3437 Family Institute has served as a beacon of hope to foster
3538 children and youth and has empowered families to take courage in
3639 cultivating the beautiful spirit of adoption; this outstanding
3740 organization has forged a lasting legacy of compassion,
3841 resilience, and positive social change, and it is a shining
3942 example to future generations who wish to build a brighter
4043 tomorrow; now, therefore, be it
4144 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
4245 Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend the staff and
4346 volunteers of Children and Family Institute on 30 years of
4447 dedicated service to foster children in the Lone Star State and
4548 extend to all best wishes for continued success in the future;
4649 and, be it further
4750 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4851 the institute as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
