77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to the compensation paid to certain court administrative
1010 staff.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 74.104, Government Code, is amended to
1313 read as follows:
1414 Sec. 74.104. COMPENSATION. (a) The judges shall determine
1515 reasonable compensation for the court coordinators[, subject to
1616 approval of the commissioners court].
1717 (b) The [Upon approval by the commissioners court of the
1818 position and compensation, the] commissioners court of the county
1919 shall provide through the county's budget process the [necessary]
2020 funding necessary to pay the compensation determined under
2121 Subsection (a) [through the county's budget process]. County funds
2222 may be supplemented in whole or part through public or private
2323 grants.
2424 SECTION 2. Section 75.401(d), Government Code, is amended
2525 to read as follows:
2626 (d) A court administrator is entitled to reasonable
2727 compensation, as determined by the judges served and in the salary
2828 range for the position[, as set by the commissioners court in the
2929 annual budget].
3030 SECTION 3. Section 152.011, Local Government Code, is
3131 amended to read as follows:
3232 Sec. 152.011. AMOUNT SET BY COMMISSIONERS COURT. Except as
3333 provided by Sections 74.104 and 75.401, Government Code, the [The]
3434 commissioners court of a county shall set the amount of the
3535 compensation, office and travel expenses, and all other allowances
3636 for county and precinct officers and employees who are paid wholly
3737 from county funds.
3838 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
