10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subtitle H, Title 2, Health and Safety Code, is | |
12 | 12 | amended by adding Chapter 174 to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | CHAPTER 174. IN VITRO FERTILIZATION | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 174.001. REGULATION OF IN VITRO FERTILIZATION | |
15 | 15 | PROCEDURES. Notwithstanding any other law, a physician or other | |
16 | 16 | health care practitioner: | |
17 | 17 | (1) may perform in vitro fertilization procedures only | |
18 | 18 | on an individual who intends to carry to term each embryo implanted | |
19 | 19 | during the procedures; and | |
20 | 20 | (2) may not terminate any unborn child in a multifetal | |
21 | 21 | pregnancy resulting from in vitro fertilization procedures. | |
22 | 22 | Sec. 174.002. ADMINISTRATIVE PENALTY. The appropriate | |
23 | 23 | licensing authority may impose an administrative penalty against a | |
24 | 24 | physician or other health care practitioner who violates this | |
25 | 25 | chapter in the same manner and using the same procedures as the | |
26 | 26 | authority uses to impose an administrative penalty against a | |
27 | 27 | physician or practitioner who violates the authority's licensing or | |
28 | 28 | other regulatory laws or rules. | |
29 | 29 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
