| 11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 521.002, Transportation Code, is amended | |
| 13 | 13 | to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | Sec. 521.002. CONVENIENCE TO PUBLIC. (a) The department | |
| 15 | 15 | shall implement its duties under this chapter in the manner that | |
| 16 | 16 | provides the greatest convenience to the public. | |
| 17 | 17 | (b) The department by rule shall establish a system to | |
| 18 | 18 | provide each person who is on active duty in the United States armed | |
| 19 | 19 | forces the opportunity to receive an expedited same-day appointment | |
| 20 | 20 | at a driver's license office on a walk-in basis. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
