12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
13 | 13 | SECTION 1. Section 48.151(b)(1), Education Code, is amended | |
14 | 14 | to read as follows: | |
15 | 15 | (1) "Regular eligible student" means a student who: | |
16 | 16 | (A) resides two or more miles from the student's | |
17 | 17 | campus of regular attendance, regardless of whether the student | |
18 | 18 | resides in the attendance zone of that campus, measured along the | |
19 | 19 | shortest route that may be traveled on public roads, and who is not | |
20 | 20 | classified as a student eligible for special education services; or | |
21 | 21 | (B) is a homeless child or youth, as defined by 42 | |
22 | 22 | U.S.C. Section 11434a. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
