| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Sec. Sec. 31.022. of the Texas Insurance Code is | |
| 12 | 12 | amended as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | APPOINTMENT; TERM. (a) The commissioner is elected for a | |
| 14 | 14 | term of four years.The governor, with the advice and consent of | |
| 15 | 15 | the senate, shall appoint the commissioner. The commissioner | |
| 16 | 16 | serves a four-year term that coincides with the Gubernatorial | |
| 17 | 17 | election. | |
| 18 | 18 | (b) The governor shall appoint the commissioner without | |
| 19 | 19 | regard to the race, color, disability, sex, religion, age, or | |
| 20 | 20 | national origin of the appointee. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
