9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 437.052(c), Government Code, is amended | |
11 | 11 | to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (c) To be eligible for appointment as adjutant general, a | |
13 | 13 | service member must: | |
14 | 14 | (1) at the time of appointment, be serving as an [a | |
15 | 15 | federally recognized] officer of not less than colonel in the Texas | |
16 | 16 | military forces [National Guard]; and | |
17 | 17 | (2) [have previously served on active duty or active | |
18 | 18 | duty for training with the United States Army or Air Force; | |
19 | 19 | [(3) meet for the year the appointment is made the | |
20 | 20 | submission requirements of the General Officer Federal Recognition | |
21 | 21 | Board or its successor; and | |
22 | 22 | [(4)] have completed at least 15 years of service as a | |
23 | 23 | [federally recognized reserve or active duty] commissioned officer | |
24 | 24 | with an active unit of the United States Army or Air Force[, the | |
25 | 25 | National Guard,] or the Texas military forces [National Guard, | |
26 | 26 | including at least five years with the Texas National Guard]. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
