| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 501, Government Code, is | |
| 12 | 12 | amended by adding Section 501.028 to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | Sec. 501.028. AIR CONDITIONING REQUIREMENTS AT DEPARTMENT | |
| 14 | 14 | FACILITIES. The department shall ensure that each cellblock, | |
| 15 | 15 | dormitory, and common area in a facility operated by the department | |
| 16 | 16 | is equipped with an air conditioning unit that is operating to | |
| 17 | 17 | maintain the air temperature at not less than 65 degrees Fahrenheit | |
| 18 | 18 | or more than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
