| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Subchapter I, Chapter 31, Natural Resources | |
| 13 | 13 | Code, is amended by adding Section 31.4515 to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | Sec. 31.4515. CARE AND CUSTODY OF VICTORY OR DEATH LETTER; | |
| 15 | 15 | DISPLAY. (a) In this section, "victory or death letter" means the | |
| 16 | 16 | letter written by Lieutenant Colonel William B. Travis dated | |
| 17 | 17 | February 24, 1836, and signed "Victory or Death." | |
| 18 | 18 | (b) The land office is responsible for the care and custody | |
| 19 | 19 | of the victory or death letter. | |
| 20 | 20 | (c) The land office shall designate an appropriate place in | |
| 21 | 21 | the Alamo complex for the storage and display of the victory or | |
| 22 | 22 | death letter. | |
| 23 | 23 | (d) Any power or duty related to the victory or death letter | |
| 24 | 24 | formerly vested in another state agency or entity is vested solely | |
| 25 | 25 | in the land office. | |
| 26 | 26 | SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date | |
| 27 | 27 | of this Act, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission shall | |
| 28 | 28 | transfer the letter described by Section 31.4515(a), Natural | |
| 29 | 29 | Resources Code, as added by this Act, to the General Land Office. | |
| 30 | 30 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
