| 11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 5.554, Water Code, is amended to read as | |
| 13 | 13 | follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | Sec. 5.554. PUBLIC MEETING. (a) During the public comment | |
| 15 | 15 | period, the executive director may hold one or more public meetings | |
| 16 | 16 | in the county in which the facility is located or proposed to be | |
| 17 | 17 | located. The executive director shall hold a public meeting: | |
| 18 | 18 | (1) on the request of a member of the legislature who | |
| 19 | 19 | represents the general area in which the facility is located or | |
| 20 | 20 | proposed to be located; or | |
| 21 | 21 | (2) if the executive director determines that there is | |
| 22 | 22 | substantial public interest in the proposed activity. | |
| 23 | 23 | (b) A public meeting requested under Subsection (a)(1) | |
| 24 | 24 | shall be held in the house district in which the facility or | |
| 25 | 25 | proposed facility is located or proposed to be located. | |
| 26 | 26 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act does not apply | |
| 27 | 27 | to a public meeting held under Section 5.554, Water Code, as amended | |
| 28 | 28 | by this Act, for which the location of the public meeting was | |
| 29 | 29 | determined before the effective date of this Act. | |
| 30 | 30 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
