The bill would require the Comptroller to develop training for members of an appraisal district board of directors and provide a certificate of completion. This bill would require a member of the appraisal board of directors to complete the training before the beginning of each term the member serves and prohibit the member from participating in official meetings of the board until the training is complete. The Comptroller could assess a fee, not to exceed $50, for a member's training.The bill would require an individual to read and sign an acknowledgement of the board of director's duties before they can be appointed to the board of directors of an appraisal district or, for an elected position on the board, before they may file an application for a place on the ballot.It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.
