| 11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Chapter 370, Local Government Code, is amended | |
| 13 | 13 | by adding Section 370.010 to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | Sec. 370.010. AUTHORITY TO DENY OR LIMIT ACCESS TO CERTAIN | |
| 15 | 15 | DYING INDIVIDUALS. A political subdivision may not adopt or | |
| 16 | 16 | enforce an order, ordinance, or other measure, including under | |
| 17 | 17 | Chapter 418, Government Code, that prohibits or limits the amount | |
| 18 | 18 | of time of an individual's access to an imminently dying member of | |
| 19 | 19 | the individual's family. | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 21 | 21 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 22 | 22 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 23 | 23 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 24 | 24 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
