11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 21.041, Education Code, is amended by | |
13 | 13 | adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (b-1) The board's rules relating to emergency certificates | |
15 | 15 | must provide that an emergency certificate is valid for a period of | |
16 | 16 | not less than three years. | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date | |
18 | 18 | of this Act, the State Board for Educator Certification shall | |
19 | 19 | propose rules relating to emergency educator certificates | |
20 | 20 | implementing Section 21.041(b-1), Education Code, as added by this | |
21 | 21 | Act. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
23 | 23 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
24 | 24 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
25 | 25 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
26 | 26 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
