77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to an exemption from sales and use taxes for animal food
1010 intended for consumption by domesticated animals.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 151, Tax Code, is amended
1313 by adding Section 151.360 to read as follows:
1414 Sec. 151.360. ANIMAL FOOD INTENDED FOR CONSUMPTION BY
1515 DOMESTICATED ANIMALS. Animal food that is intended for consumption
1616 by domesticated animals is exempted from the taxes imposed by this
1717 chapter.
1818 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act does not
1919 affect tax liability accruing before the effective date of this
2020 Act. That liability continues in effect as if this Act had not been
2121 enacted, and the former law is continued in effect for the
2222 collection of taxes due and for civil and criminal enforcement of
2323 the liability for those taxes.
2424 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
