119 relating to authorizing certain cities to change the date on which
1210 their general election for officers is held.
1311 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
14- SECTION 1. Section 41.0052, Election Code, is amended by
15- adding Subsection (f) to read as follows:

1614 (f) The governing body of a city with a population of 9,000
1715 or less, located predominantly in a county that has a total area of
18- less than 6,200 square miles, that has adopted a council-manager
19- form of government and that holds its general election for officers
20- on a date other than the November uniform election date may, not
21- later than December 31, 2026, change the date on which it holds its
22- general election for officers to the November uniform election
23- date. Subsections (b), (c), and (d) apply to the change of an
24- election date under this subsection. This subsection expires
25- January 1, 2027.

2624 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2725 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2826 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2927 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3028 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
