| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 607.055(b), Government Code, is amended |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (b) This section applies only to: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) cancer that originates at the stomach, colon, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | rectum, skin, prostate, testis, or brain; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (2) non-Hodgkin's lymphoma; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (3) multiple myeloma; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (4) malignant melanoma; [and] |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (5) renal cell carcinoma; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (6) any other cancer that may be caused by exposure to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | heat, smoke, radiation, or a known or suspected carcinogen as |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | determined by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | to a claim for benefits or compensation brought on or after the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | effective date of this Act. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
