11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 207.041, Labor Code, is amended by | |
13 | 13 | adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (b-1) Subsection (b) does not apply to an individual if the | |
15 | 15 | services performed by the individual for an educational institution | |
16 | 16 | consist only of: | |
17 | 17 | (1) driving a school bus transporting students to and | |
18 | 18 | from school or a school-sponsored or school-related activity; or | |
19 | 19 | (2) working as a cafeteria worker. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
21 | 21 | to a claim for unemployment compensation benefits filed with the | |
22 | 22 | Texas Workforce Commission on or after the effective date of this | |
23 | 23 | Act. A claim filed before the effective date of this Act is | |
24 | 24 | governed by the law in effect on the date the claim was filed, and | |
25 | 25 | the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
