88 AN ACT
99 relating to establishing optional certifications for child-care
1010 providers participating in the Texas Rising Star Program and
1111 reimbursement rates for those providers.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 2308, Government Code, is
1414 amended by adding Section 2308.3156 to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 2308.3156. OPTIONAL CERTIFICATIONS FOR TEXAS RISING
1616 STAR PROGRAM. (a) As part of the Texas Rising Star Program, the
1717 commission shall create optional certifications that a child-care
1818 provider may obtain to enhance the provider's rating under the
1919 program.
2020 (b) The optional certifications created under Subsection
2121 (a) must include a certification for child-care providers who
2222 provide for the inclusion of children with disabilities with their
2323 typically developing peers.
2424 (c) The commission shall provide a child-care provider who
2525 receives an optional certification under this section with an
2626 additional reimbursement amount. The additional reimbursement
2727 amount may not exceed the reimbursement amount for a Texas Rising
2828 Star Program provider with a two-star rating.
2929 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
