| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 302.0121, Texas Government Code, is | |
| 12 | 12 | amended by adding subsection (f) to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (f) No speaker candidate shall be permitted to file a | |
| 14 | 14 | declaration of candidacy with the Texas Ethics Commission if the | |
| 15 | 15 | speaker candidate has already served as speaker of the house of | |
| 16 | 16 | representatives for two complete regular sessions of the | |
| 17 | 17 | legislature. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
