9 | 9 | relating to the procedure by which a taxing unit is required to | |
10 | 10 | provide public notice of certain ad valorem tax-related | |
11 | 11 | information. | |
12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
13 | 13 | SECTION 1. Section 26.04, Tax Code, is amended by adding | |
14 | 14 | Subsection (e-7) to read as follows: | |
15 | 15 | (e-7) By August 7 or as soon thereafter as practicable, the | |
16 | 16 | designated officer or employee of a taxing unit required to post | |
17 | 17 | information on the home page of the taxing unit's Internet website | |
18 | 18 | under Subsection (e) shall publish a summary of that information | |
19 | 19 | and the uniform resource locator (URL) address of the location | |
20 | 20 | where that information is posted in a newspaper of general | |
21 | 21 | circulation in each county in which the taxing unit is located. This | |
22 | 22 | subsection does not apply to a taxing unit if: | |
23 | 23 | (1) the taxing unit is located wholly or partly in a | |
24 | 24 | county with a population of one million or more; or | |
25 | 25 | (2) no part of the taxing unit is located in a county | |
26 | 26 | in which a newspaper of general circulation is published. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
28 | 28 | to an ad valorem tax year that begins on or after the effective date | |
29 | 29 | of this Act. | |
30 | 30 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2026. |
