| 10 | 10 | | relating to a study by the General Land Office regarding veterans |

| 11 | 11 | | cemeteries in this state. |

| 12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. (a) The General Land Office in coordination with |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the Texas Veterans Commission shall study: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) obstacles veterans in this state face in accessing |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | a burial plot in a veterans cemetery in this state; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (2) opportunities to address the operational needs of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | veterans cemeteries in this state, including locations, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | maintenance, and other operational needs of veterans cemeteries. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (b) Not later than April 1, 2026, the General Land Office |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | shall submit to the lieutenant governor, speaker of the house of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | representatives, and chairs of the house and senate committees with |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | primary jurisdiction over veterans affairs a written report |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | summarizing the results of the study conducted under this Act and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | providing recommendations for legislative or other action. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (c) This Act expires September 1, 2027. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
