88 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
99 AN ACT
1010 relating to a study by the General Land Office regarding veterans
1111 cemeteries in this state.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. (a) The General Land Office in coordination with
1414 the Texas Veterans Commission shall study:
1515 (1) obstacles veterans in this state face in accessing
1616 a burial plot in a veterans cemetery in this state; and
1717 (2) opportunities to address the operational needs of
1818 veterans cemeteries in this state, including locations,
1919 maintenance, and other operational needs of veterans cemeteries.
2020 (b) Not later than April 1, 2026, the General Land Office
2121 shall submit to the lieutenant governor, speaker of the house of
2222 representatives, and chairs of the house and senate committees with
2323 primary jurisdiction over veterans affairs a written report
2424 summarizing the results of the study conducted under this Act and
2525 providing recommendations for legislative or other action.
2626 (c) This Act expires September 1, 2027.
2727 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
