A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the board of directors of Somervell County Hospital
District.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subtitle A, Title 3, Special District Local Laws
Code, is amended by adding Chapter 1123 to read as follows:
CHAPTER 1123. SOMERVELL COUNTY HOSPITAL DISTRICT
SUBCHAPTER A. GENERAL PROVISIONS
Sec. 1123.0001. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter:
(1) "Board" means the board of directors of the
district.
(2) "District" means the Somervell County Hospital
District.

SUBCHAPTER B. DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION
Sec. 1123.051. ELECTION OF DIRECTORS. An election shall be
held on the uniform election date in May as appropriate to elect the
appropriate number of directors for four-year terms.
SECTION 2. (a) The members of the board of directors
elected in May 2026 shall draw lots to determine which two directors
shall serve two-year terms and which three directors shall serve
three-year terms.
(b) The members of the board of directors elected in May
2027 shall serve four-year terms.
(c) Successor directors shall serve four-year terms.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
