| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subtitle A, Title 3, Special District Local Laws |

| 12 | 12 | | Code, is amended by adding Chapter 1123 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | CHAPTER 1123. SOMERVELL COUNTY HOSPITAL DISTRICT |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | SUBCHAPTER A. GENERAL PROVISIONS |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Sec. 1123.0001. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter: |

| 16 | 16 | | (1) "Board" means the board of directors of the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | district. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (2) "District" means the Somervell County Hospital |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | District. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | [Sections 1123.002-1123.050 reserved for expansion] |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | SUBCHAPTER B. DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Sec. 1123.051. ELECTION OF DIRECTORS. An election shall be |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | held on the uniform election date in May as appropriate to elect the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | appropriate number of directors for four-year terms. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 2. (a) The members of the board of directors |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | elected in May 2026 shall draw lots to determine which two directors |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | shall serve two-year terms and which three directors shall serve |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | three-year terms. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (b) The members of the board of directors elected in May |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 2027 shall serve four-year terms. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (c) Successor directors shall serve four-year terms. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
