99 relating to the prosecution of the criminal offenses of firearm and
1010 ammunition smuggling and terrorism.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. The heading to Section 46.14, Penal Code, is
1313 amended to read as follows:
1414 Sec. 46.14. FIREARM AND AMMUNITION SMUGGLING.
1515 SECTION 2. Section 46.14(a), Penal Code, is amended to read
1616 as follows:
1717 (a) A person commits an offense if the person knowingly
1818 engages in the business of transporting or transferring a firearm
1919 or ammunition for a firearm that the person knows was acquired in
2020 violation of the laws of any state or of the United States. For
2121 purposes of this subsection, a person is considered to engage in the
2222 business of transporting or transferring a firearm or ammunition
2323 for a firearm if the person engages in that conduct:
2424 (1) on more than one occasion; or
2525 (2) for profit or any other form of remuneration.
2626 SECTION 3. Section 76.02(a), Penal Code, is amended to read
2727 as follows:
2828 (a) A person commits an offense if the person:

7076 subdivision of this state, or the United States.
7177 SECTION 4. The change in law made by this Act applies only
7278 to an offense committed on or after the effective date of this Act.
7379 An offense committed before the effective date of this Act is
7480 governed by the law in effect on the date the offense was committed,
7581 and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. For
7682 purposes of this section, an offense was committed before the
7783 effective date of this Act if any element of the offense occurred
7884 before that date.
7985 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
