| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 51, Education Code, is | |
| 13 | 13 | amended by adding Section 51.360 to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | Sec. 51.360. LOCATION OF COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY. An | |
| 15 | 15 | institution of higher education may not hold a commencement | |
| 16 | 16 | ceremony more than 30 miles from or in a different county than the | |
| 17 | 17 | location at which the ceremony was held for the previous semester or | |
| 18 | 18 | term unless the institution's governing board approves the new | |
| 19 | 19 | location after considering the matter in an open meeting with an | |
| 20 | 20 | opportunity for public testimony as provided by Section 551.007(a), | |
| 21 | 21 | Government Code. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
